PLEASE NOTE, IF THERE ARE LIQUIDITY ISSUES, ALWAYS KEEP THE STAKES LOW

MIAMI OPEN:

MEN:

1. 15:00 – Simon v Kukushkin

Both have played pretty well recently. However, Simon’s game is going to have more effect on these slow courts. I agree with the odds here..

—> Back Simon @1.41, lay @1.18

2. 16:45 – Fognini v Sock –> HOT TIP

Sock had a very decent Indian Wells tournament losing only to eventual finalist, Roger Federer. Fognini though, lost in the 1st round there and is currently on a 4 game losing streak. Go for the home favourite here!

—> Back Sock @1.49, lay @1.24

3. 17:30 – Bolelli v Troicki –> HOT TIP

I was extremely impressed how well Bolelli played against Baghdatis in the last match dismantling him 6-2 6-2, something that is not easy to do. Also, he looked very sharp on the returns and some of them ended up as backhand winners. With so much confidence in his game, I’m suggesting to back the favourite here who I think might put on a good show here at Miami.

—> Back Bolelli @1.83, lay @1.4

4. 18:15 – Gulbis v Monaco

Gulbis has simply been out of form losing 4 of his previous 5 matches. Definitely inclining towards the Argentinian Monaco here ..

—> Back Monaco @1.65, lay @1.2

5. 18:30 – Falla v Kalovic

This may end up as a 3rd setter, however, it is safer to back the Croatian Karlovic at the start due to his serves..

—> Back Karlo @1.42, lay @1.16

6. 19:15 – Chardy v Melzer —> HOT TIP

I disagree with the prices for this match. Chardy is a rather sloppy server and on these slower courts, Melzer is likely to have more of an advantage due to his overall game variety.

If Chardy wins the first set for some reason, lay him immediately!

—> Lay Chardy @1.65, back @2.1

7. 20:15 – Dolgopolov v Robredo

Fancy Dolgo doing better here at the start as his form looks to be getting better at the moment.

—> Back Dolgo @1.61, lay @1.24

WOMEN:

8. 15:00 – Cornet v Navarro

I must say I didn’t think Cornet would sail so smoothly against Vesnina in the last match. Not only did she prove me wrong, but also ended up hammering her opponent 6-4 6-1. Considering the head to head favours Cornet 3-1, this may be worth a lay on Navarro in the first set…

—> Lay Navarro @1.55, back @1.9

Suggesting to keep the stakes low for this tip..

9. 15:00 – Makarova v Svitolina

Both these players have been good by form, only losing to decent players. Their only head to head encounter was a win for the Russian Makarova in 2 sets. As well as Svitolina can play, I feel Makarova is one really tough player to tackle.

—> Back Makarova @1.41, lay @1.18

10. 20:00 – Nara v Gavrilova

The upset of the tournament so far was Gavrilova’s knockout of Sharapova. That was by no means a fluke so I feel there is a lot of value in these odds eventhough Nara isn’t a bad defensive player by any means. Worth considering a 3rd set in match that could very well favour the favourite at the beginning..

—> Back Gavrilova @1.66, lay @1.35

11. 20:30 – Venus Williams v Stosur

Venus leads the head to head 6-1 here but their last encounter was back in 2012. I feel she might end up winning here but the first set might be hard to call considering Venus has issues with serve consistency and can generally be a slow starter.

—> Lay Venus @1.44, back @1.85

Good luck!

Some Terms Explained:

Back: Normal Stakes – use 10% of bank.
Back Heavy(BH) – use up to 30% of bank. Used at members discretion. Delay and Trade.
Lay: Normal stakes – use 10% of bank.
Lay Heavy(LH) – use up to 30% of bank. Used at members discretion. Delay and Trade.
Likely 3 Setter – consider laying the winner of the first set.
Hot Tip – I have more confidence in these tips. However, use normal stake sizes.

Tips are deemed unsuccessful at 40% loss of stake.

All odds shown with the tips are correct at time of publishing. Odds are often given several hours ahead of the event. If odds have changed, adjust your back/lay stake accordingly e.g. if I tip ‘Back at 1.5, Lay at 1.25’ – and back odds move to 1.55, adjust your lay odds to 1.3 – there are still 25 ticks between the back and lay odds.

Delay and Trade!! It’s OK to place your trades before the match starts, but in my opinion, waiting 2/3 games before placing your trades is the safest way to trade. This is advised in many of the articles below. To delay and trade will give you a good feel for the match. Delay and Trade is a MUST if you are Backing Heavy. Delaying is advised mostly for the women’s game, as early breaks of serve are more likely.  Please read the relevant article below.
