All times are UK/Irish and are subject to change, and all times are in 24hr format e.g., 01.00 = 1am and 16:00 = 4pm:

PLEASE NOTE, IF THERE ARE LIQUIDITY ISSUES, ALWAYS KEEP THE STAKES LOW

MUTUA MADRID OPEN:

MENS:

1. 15:00 – J.Sousa v Janowicz

Sousa has already played 2 qualifiers here and should know these courts better I feel. Jano has hardly played any matches on clay this season so this one could be a tricky encounter from his perspective.

—> Lay Jano @1.8, back @2.6

2. 17:00 – Chardy v Bellucci

Fair to say, Bellucci is the better player on clay between these two and has won both his qualifiers, the last one beating a tough Delbonis.
Definitely suggesting to back him here but keep the stakes low..

—> Back Bellucci @1.98, lay @1.55

3. 18:30 – Gulbis v Goffin —> HOT TIP

Gulbis has played a total of 10 matches this season and lost 9 of them which is absolutely disastrous! Last 2 matches include 2 losses on Clay in the first rounds of Monte Carlo to Haider-Maurer and Barcelona to Paire. If he carries on this terrible form, his ranking could fall apart sooner than later.
Definitely go for Goffin who did play solid tennis at the recent Munich Open.

—> Back Goffin @1.4, lay @1.16

WOMENS:

4. 11:30 – Kanepi v Stosur

Stosur broke Kerber’s amazing win streak by knocking her out in the earlier match. While Kanepi beat a tough Madison Keys, I feel your money should be on the favourite here..

—> Back Stosur @1.54, lay @1.2

5. 11:30 – Wozniacki v McHale –> HOT TIP

Wozniacki does have the form behind her to win this match comfortably so I think this one is a safe enough trade to go for by backing her.

—> Back Woz @1.17, lay @1.06

6. 14:00 – Vinci v Cornet

Cornet caused a huge upset by knocking out Simona Halep in 2 sets yesterday. While I think she must be the favourite due to that win, I can’t ignore the fact that Vinci beat a very tricky Monica Puig to reach the 2nd round. More interestingly, Vinci has never lost to Cornet and leads 3-0 in head to head stats.

Considering Vinci is naturally good on clay, I suggest laying Cornet at the start ..

—> Lay Cornet @1.5, back @1.85

Good luck!

Some Terms Explained:

Back: Normal Stakes – use 10% of bank.
Back Heavy(BH) – use up to 30% of bank. Used at members discretion. Delay and Trade.
Lay: Normal stakes – use 10% of bank.
Lay Heavy(LH) – use up to 30% of bank. Used at members discretion. Delay and Trade.
Likely 3 Setter – consider laying the winner of the first set.
Hot Tip – I have more confidence in these tips. However, use normal stake sizes.

Tips are deemed unsuccessful at 40% loss of stake.

All odds shown with the tips are correct at time of publishing. Odds are often given several hours ahead of the event. If odds have changed, adjust your back/lay stake accordingly e.g. if I tip ‘Back at 1.5, Lay at 1.25’ – and back odds move to 1.55, adjust your lay odds to 1.3 – there are still 25 ticks between the back and lay odds.

Delay and Trade!! It’s OK to place your trades before the match starts, but in my opinion, waiting 2/3 games before placing your trades is the safest way to trade. This is advised in many of the articles below. To delay and trade will give you a good feel for the match. Delay and Trade is a MUST if you are Backing Heavy. Delaying is advised mostly for the women’s game, as early breaks of serve are more likely.  Please read the relevant article below.

Some folks have asked why I call the tips ‘Betfair Tennis Trading Tips’ and have asked if the tips can be used on other betting exchanges. I use Betfair for all my trading because Betfair has the best liquidity. All of my prices are taken from Betfair.
Betfair Tennis Trading gives you the best opportunities to make profits. You can use the trading tips on other exchanges – there may be small price differences – but these shouldn’t matter. If you decide to use a site other that Betfair for trading, make sure that the liquidity is there.
If you’re unsure about what liquidity is required, see question 17 on my FAQ section at http://tennis-trading-league.com/faq/
