FRENCH OPEN DAY 3:
WOMEN:
1. 11:30 – Schmiedlova v Van Uytvanck
Schmiedlova’s form on Clay this year has been generally impressive as she reached the final of the Rio de Janeiro Open and only lost to Svitolina in Morocco after beating Bacsinszky. Van Uytvanck hasn’t really played a lot of decent tournaments so I would suggest going for the favourite here..
—> Back Schmiedlova @1.42, lay @1.18
2. 11:30 – Bacsinszky v Arruabarrena —> HOT TIP
While Arruabarrena can definitely play on Clay, Bacsinszky is more about power and aggression. She’s the right favourite here..
—> Back Bacsinszky @1.34, lay @1.18
3. 11:30 – Knapp v Wozniacki
Normally I would suggest to back Wozniacki, but Knapp’s current form on Clay is too hard to ignore. Suggesting to lay Woz as there is an upset on the cards here..
—> Lay Wozniacki @1.23, back @1.6
4. 12:45 – Petkovic v Rogers
Petko’s last 2 losses were an early retirement and by WALKOVER. Prior to these, she lost to eventual champion Kerber in Charleston. Brengle on the other hand lost 5 of her previous 6 matches. Definitely go for the German here..
—> Back Petko @1.35, lay @1.15
MENS:
5. 10:00 – Pospisil v Sousa
There’s no doubt that Clay is the least favourite surface of the Canadian Pospisil, as he is currently on a 7 game losing streak. Go for Sousa here who is improving on every surface these days and has already played well at Geneva, reaching the final.
—> Back Sousa @1.26, lay @1.12
6. 11:30 – Almagro v Dolgopolov
Almagro’s three previous losses were to Djokovic, Monaco and Gasquet, all decent clay courters. Dolgo though, lost to a rather inconsistent Gulbis. I am definitely with the spaniard here..
—> Back Almagro @1.54, lay @1.2
Good luck!
Some Terms Explained:

Back Heavy(BH) – use up to 30% of bank. Used at members discretion. Delay and Trade.
Lay: Normal stakes – use 10% of bank.
Lay Heavy(LH) – use up to 30% of bank. Used at members discretion. Delay and Trade.
Likely 3 Setter – consider laying the winner of the first set.
Hot Tip – I have more confidence in these tips. However, use normal stake sizes.
Tips are deemed unsuccessful at 40% loss of stake.
All odds shown with the tips are correct at time of publishing. Odds are often given several hours ahead of the event. If odds have changed, adjust your back/lay stake accordingly e.g. if I tip ‘Back at 1.5, Lay at 1.25’ – and back odds move to 1.55, adjust your lay odds to 1.3 – there are still 25 ticks between the back and lay odds.
Delay and Trade!! It’s OK to place your trades before the match starts, but in my opinion, waiting 2/3 games before placing your trades is the safest way to trade. This is advised in many of the articles below. To delay and trade will give you a good feel for the match. Delay and Trade is a MUST if you are Backing Heavy. Delaying is advised mostly for the women’s game, as early breaks of serve are more likely. Please read the relevant article below.
