All times are UK/Irish and are subject to change, and all times are in 24hr format e.g., 01.00 = 1am and 16:00 = 4pm:

PLEASE NOTE, IF THERE ARE LIQUIDITY ISSUES, ALWAYS KEEP THE STAKES LOW

MIAMI OPEN:

MEN:

1. 15:50 – Mannarino v Thiem

Both these players have played extremely well so far in Miami. However, Mannarino caused a major upset by knocking out Wawrinka in 2 sets.
I prefer backing him mainly for this reason.

—> Back Mannarino @1.71, lay @1.3

Keep the stakes low here..

2. 16:00 – Monfils v Berdych –> HOT TIP

Eventhough Berdych looked sloppy against Tomic in his previous match, he made an incredible comeback to win that encounter rather comfortably in the end.

Monfils had a tough match against unknown Krajinovic and beat Tsonga who is coming back from injury. Considering he has never beaten Berdych on a hard court, this one looks pretty easy to predict..

—> Back Berdych @1.45, lay @1.15

3. 17:30 – Monaco v Verdasco

I must say Verdasco’s shock upset over Rafa Nadal was due to the former world number 1 playing badly, rather than Verda being amazing. His next opponent, Monaco, is playing some extremely good tennis at the moment after a poor start to the season.

I’m expecting some fireworks in this match and won’t be surprised if Monaco ends up winning here in a possible 3 setter.

—> Lay Verdasco @1.67, back @2.4

WOMEN:

4. 18:00 – Petkovic v Pliskova

The German Petkovic has been in ruthless form, destroying all her opponents namely McHale, Mladenovic and Makarova. While beating the first two was predictable, knocking out Makarova in 2 sets is by no means an easy task.

I am going to give her a lot of credit for this win and suggest laying Pliskova who is the favourite here..

—> Lay Pliskova @1.8, back @2.74

5. 00:30 – Suarez Navarro v Venus —> HOT TIP

Venus continues her dominance at Miami beating Ursula Radwanska, Stosur and Wozniacki without losing a set, something most people wouldn’t have predicted.

To be fair, Navarro has also played extremely well and Aga Radwanska became her latest casualty. Overall, I see Venus starting well here in what could be a three set encounter..

—> Back Venus @1.64, lay @1.3

Good luck!

Some Terms Explained:

Back: Normal Stakes – use 10% of bank.
Back Heavy(BH) – use up to 30% of bank. Used at members discretion. Delay and Trade.
Lay: Normal stakes – use 10% of bank.
Lay Heavy(LH) – use up to 30% of bank. Used at members discretion. Delay and Trade.
Likely 3 Setter – consider laying the winner of the first set.
Hot Tip – I have more confidence in these tips. However, use normal stake sizes.

Tips are deemed unsuccessful at 40% loss of stake.

All odds shown with the tips are correct at time of publishing. Odds are often given several hours ahead of the event. If odds have changed, adjust your back/lay stake accordingly e.g. if I tip ‘Back at 1.5, Lay at 1.25’ – and back odds move to 1.55, adjust your lay odds to 1.3 – there are still 25 ticks between the back and lay odds.

Delay and Trade!! It’s OK to place your trades before the match starts, but in my opinion, waiting 2/3 games before placing your trades is the safest way to trade. This is advised in many of the articles below. To delay and trade will give you a good feel for the match. Delay and Trade is a MUST if you are Backing Heavy. Delaying is advised mostly for the women’s game, as early breaks of serve are more likely.  Please read the relevant article below.
