Betfair Tennis Trading – Petrova vs Schnyder 13.09.2008

Trading on the Commonwealth Bank Tennis Classic tournament in Bali, Indonesia, I was experimenting a little bit on some matches. You know – to refine tennis trading strategies and come up with new ideas you have to constantly look for something new.
Had I stuck with what I new half year ago, I’d never be as successful Betfair tennis trader as I am now! Back then I was mostly scalping the matches, but that approach requires strong nerves and a whole lot of a dedication.
Besides – some matches are impossible to scalp due to the time lag on Eurosport. So during the non-qualifying matches I was trying to spot other trends which would lead me to revealing new ways to profit from Betfair tennis trading.

In this example I backed the favourite Schnyder at the odds of 1.83 as she broke in the ninth game of the match. I could have layed her off right after that – as her odds shortened to 1.6. But I decided to see how she performs in the next game.
After all, she was serving now and it was quite reasonable to expect she could gain another game point.
Contrary to my expectations the opposite player – Petrova – took the lead during the next game and finally scored the break point. With nothing much to lose I gave Schnyder another chance and as the next game started, I was ready to lay her off at any moment – should Petrova gain a point.
But Schnyder gained all the points in turn in the game, and I could lay her off after she broke making 14 euro on her.

This amount could have been three times bigger had Schnyder won the previous game where she was serving. Anyway, sometimes you can see such weird things happen in tennis – players score taking serves but lose when serving.
