Hello my Fellow Traders!

The odds in tennis matches can be fairly predictable insuring nice profit if you’ve got the right attitude and just basic understanding of what’s happening on the court.

Here you can see the match between Mathieu and Karanusic in Zagreb Indoors on the 4the of February. Mathieu is the match’s favourite and at the moment he’s serving and the underdog is the receiving player.

The common sense dictates that it’s easier to score if you’re serving and you don’t have to know tennis inside out to understand that at the moment of serving the advantage is on your side.

So let’s see how the odds behave following the players’ scoring on the court. Mathieu scores a point, and I back him immediately getting the bet matched at the odds of 1.45 using a hundred euro stake.

As you can see, Mathieu’s price drops straight away and I can theoretically lay him off at 1.42. However, I’m not in a rush of exiting the trade as if the favourite scores a few more points in this game, I can increase my profit margin a great deal!

The next point is also scored by the favourite; his price shortens even more, which is a common sense event as well. As you can see, this is no rocket science – players’ scoring is mirroring in the odds movement on the screen and my task is two open and close the trade at the right moments.

And such a moment comes when Mathieu scores another point and I don’t hesitate laying him off at 1.34 locking in 11 euro profit! 10% of the stake made in less than a minute – can you see the potential of Betfair tennis trading?

But now – another moment in a tennis match when the odds can be used to your advantage just by applying common sense knowledge of tennis scoring.

The winner of a set is decided when a player has scored at least 6 game points and is leading by at least 2 points. Can you see what’s happening now? Karanusic is just a game point away from winning the first set in this match. It’s not going to make or break the whole match for him; however, the odds will be especially sensitive in this game which allows for good profits! Karanusic doesn’t even need to score the game point; a few scored points would be enough to top up the green figure by another 10% at least!

So I’m laying the favourite player off at 1.44 and waiting on the events to unfold. Karanusic indeed scores a point and it’s getting reflected in the odds, of course – as you can see, the favourite is trading at 1.47 right now. But then the underdog scores another point which brings him just two points away from the set point! Mathieu’s odds drift out to 1.67 and I’m not going to wait for any longer – 23 euro profits has been made, fair enough!

Did you see how big the odds fluctuation was at the moment when the favourite player was facing defeat in the first set? You can also use such moments to your advantage when trading tennis on Betfair, just remember – the exit strategies play a crucial role in the trading process and I’m setting them out thoroughly throughout my Tennis Trading League Systems.

Wishing You A Successful Tennis Trading Session,

Paddy

Yesterday’s game was just amazing. The 27-year-old Swiss lad proved that everyone was badly mistaken when predicting his career’s downfall!

I was watching the match and made some profits when Murray broke in the second set, but most of the times I was just fascinated by Roger’s performance. Murray was the closest British man trying to win a Grand Slam since 1936, but the Swiss just annihilated his hopes. Despite Murray’s brilliant defensive play Federer was just unstoppable.

As he said later on: “I played great, you know. I felt like I was invincible for a while again, and that’s exactly how you want to finish a tournament.”

Just a few stats about Federer.

He’s won five consecutive US Open titles. He’s become the first player in tennis history to win two Grand Slam tournaments five years straight. And he’s won 13 Grand Slam titles overall! The only unbeatable stays Pete Sampras who’s made 14!

What many thought to be the start of Rafael Nadal’s reign in the tennis kingdom, hasn’t happened exactly so. This time Nadal was knocked out by the Scot Andy Murray and he in turn gave victory to Roger Federer.

Yes, although I trade tennis mainly for profit on Betfair, I have to admit that such moments are really breathtaking – to witness a victory one of the tennis all-time-greats!

The tennis action at the 2008 Olympics is as unpredictable as it can get. Among the first round tennis players to get the axe on Monday was sixth seed tennis player Andy Murray of Britain and the fifth ranked player David Ferrer. Ferrer lost his match to Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia 7-6, 6-2 and Murray lost his match to Lu Yen-Hsun of Taiwan 7-6, 6-4.

The 21 year old Scot Andy Murray won’t be adding to the Brit’s tally of 2 gold medals and 1 bronze which they have captured so far in the swimming and cycling categories. When Murray arrived in Beijing from London many commented the tennis pro looked tired, worn out and drained. The conditions for the upcoming match with Lu were almost ideal with some cloud cover but a mild temperature for good tennis play.

With Murray a recent Master Series title winner and Lu ranked far below, the match seemed all but won for Murray before it began. As the match progressed Murray was leading the set 5-2 but he was unable to hold down the determined Lu who came back to tie it up at 6-6. No one would have expected to see the sixth seed player being so challenged by a player ranked 77th in the world.

Murray couldn’t get a break and was having trouble returning some of Lu’s second serves. Lu was determined to win and the 24 year old was fighting him for every point. Both players totaled up over 60 unforced errors each and to top it all off a controversial double fault challenge at the 6-6 set point ended when umpire Molina ruled in favor of Lu. The set point would be awarded to Lu to end the set with Lu winning 7-6.

With all the action so far it was apparent at the 4-4 mark of the second set the match was beginning to take its toll on Murray. Even though Murray was missing a lot of forehand plays Murray tried to break Lu’s determination to hold on to the serve, but Lu’s resiliency won out. Murray battled back and forth with Lu through three break points but Lu saw an opening and finished off Murray 6-4 and won the match.

Lu stated before the match he didn’t believe he had a chance in beating Murray and would be playing just to gain the experience. Maybe that was just enough to take the mental pressure off Lu and allow him to turn the match around.

Murray on the other hand is looking forward to the doubles matches coming up and remains optimistic and hopeful about his chances of bringing home an Olympic gold medal for Britain.

The match certainly wasn’t a classic match of champions; the players were mismatched by ranking, the amount of unforced errors by both players was high and a controversial call to end the first set only added to the surprise ending.

The Olympics has always been a welcomed home for the underdog and most people will tell you they like to see the underdog win once in awhile. The question is will the underdogs in Beijing allow the top seeds to step right in and take away their chances of gold or will they come from behind and wisk it away from them before the know what has happened?
