However, as it sometimes happens in tennis, clear favourites don’t always win the first set of the match. And clever Betfair tennis traders like me (LOL!) can exploit the ensuing price movements to their benefit!

As clearly described in one of my Betfair tennis trading systems – Race Your Profits – you can wait on the favourite player to lose the first set and then act accordingly. What this acting accordingly means? Well, if you’re not a Betfair trading newbie, it should be pretty clear to you. You have to back the favourite first and then lay him off when he breaks in a game, for example.

But this time I did something different. As you can see, I layed off the under-dog Ferrero at the odds of 1.83 when the favourite Roddick scored a game point.

The next game was for the under-dog to serve and I was closely watching the match. During the next game both players scored a number of points each. When the favourite player had an advantage and Ferrero’s odds had drifted out to 2.1, I backed him.

The result – 27 euro profit in less than six minutes! Not bad, is it?

If you’re wandering how I could predict that Ferrero’s odds would drift out, here are a few cornerstones of successful Betfair tennis trading:

* Quite often a strong favourite having lost the first set will gain a few game points at the beginning of the next set.

* When a player scores all the points in a game, you can confidently expect him to perform very well during the next game as well. Even if he takes the opposite player’s serves, by the way.

* Break points are crucial moments during tennis matches triggering very good price movements.

However, to make consistent long term profit, this is not enough. You have to know the right odds filters and exit strategies – and it’s what my Tennis Trading League Systems are all about:-)
