Berdych won his match quite comfortably as expected. He didnt have a break point against him until he was serving for the first set at 5-1. He recovered and took the set 6-1. In his first 3 service games of the match, Berdych dropped just one point while putting Isner under constant pressure when receiving serve. The second set looked like going exactly the same as the first set when Berdych broke Isner in the first game of the second set. Isner improved slowly after that and almost broke Berdych in the fourth game of the second set, but he was unable to take advantage of 2 break points and Berdych took the game. The first break of the second set was the decider as both players won all their remaining service games, but Berdych went on to take the match 6-1, 6-4.

Berdych will now go on to play Klizan in the semi finals in Beijing after Klizan knocked out Rafa Nadal in one of the other quarter finals today. Klizan is playing extremely well so this will be a test for Berdych. Berdych is a massive favourite (best price on him right now is 1.29 0n Paddypower. Most bookies are around the 1.2 mark. If Nadal was his opponent tomorrow, Berdych would not be favourite so Klizan has to be a risk to him. We will see tomorrow who the eventual finalists are. It’s Murray v Djokovic in the other semi final and that should be a good match with Djokovic going in as the big favourite. Odds on Djokovic winning is 1.3 up to about 1.36 on Matchbook.
