ROME OPEN (CLAY):
MENS:
1. 11:00 – Goffin v Ferrer —> HOT TIP
Goffin played well against a rusty looking Tsonga and got a free walkover against Murray. No more luck for him this time, as Ferrer is likely to beat him in 2 sets today..
—> Back Ferrer @1.25, lay @1.09
2. 13:00 – Berdych v Federer —> HOT TIP
After a shocking loss at Madrid, I must say Roger has looked rather comfortable in his wins over a tricky Cuevas and an unpredictable Anderson.
Making this a HOT TIP as I think Roger has looked very focussed so far in Rome.
—> Back Federer @1.54, lay @1.2
3. 15:00 – Djokovic v Nishikori
Amazing Novak is on a 20 game winning streak. While I think Nishikori has played well recently, I prefer to go for the Serbian who hasn’t lost a match on Clay this year.
—> Back Djokovic @1.25, lay @1.06
WOMENS:
4. 13:00 – Navarro v Kvitova
After getting through a very tough match against Knapp, Kvitova looks back on form as she hammered Jelena Jankovic yesterday. Interesting that Navarro has taken the last 3 matches between these two, but current form on Clay suggests the Czech is the right favourite here.
—> Back Kvitova @1.61, lay @1.2
Consider laying the 1st set winner here..
5. 14:30 – McHale v Gavrilova
Gavrilova has had an amazing tournament so far beating Bencic, Ivanovic and an on-form Bacsinszky. However, one of the biggest upsets of this tournament so far was the American McHale’s 2 set win over local favourite Sara Errani.
I have to favour her starting well here..
—> Back McHale @1.98, lay @1.55
6. 18:30 – Sharapova v Azarenka
Match of the day as this is going to be a mouthwatering affair between these two WTA stars.
With Azarenka’s recent show of form, I am fancying this to be a very tricky encounter for the Russian Sharapova.
—> Lay Sharapova @1.62, back @2.1
Good luck!
Some Terms Explained:
Back: Normal Stakes – use 10% of bank.
Back Heavy(BH) – use up to 30% of bank. Used at members discretion. Delay and Trade.
Lay: Normal stakes – use 10% of bank.
Lay Heavy(LH) – use up to 30% of bank. Used at members discretion. Delay and Trade.
Likely 3 Setter – consider laying the winner of the first set.
Hot Tip – I have more confidence in these tips. However, use normal stake sizes.
Tips are deemed unsuccessful at 40% loss of stake.
All odds shown with the tips are correct at time of publishing. Odds are often given several hours ahead of the event. If odds have changed, adjust your back/lay stake accordingly e.g. if I tip ‘Back at 1.5, Lay at 1.25’ – and back odds move to 1.55, adjust your lay odds to 1.3 – there are still 25 ticks between the back and lay odds.
Delay and Trade!! It’s OK to place your trades before the match starts, but in my opinion, waiting 2/3 games before placing your trades is the safest way to trade. This is advised in many of the articles below. To delay and trade will give you a good feel for the match. Delay and Trade is a MUST if you are Backing Heavy. Delaying is advised mostly for the women’s game, as early breaks of serve are more likely. Please read the relevant article below.
