Some Terms Explained:

Back: Normal Stakes – use 10% of bank.
Back Heavy(BH) – use up to 30% of bank. Used at members discretion. Delay and Trade.
Lay: Normal stakes – use 10% of bank.
Lay Heavy(LH) – use up to 30% of bank. Used at members discretion. Delay and Trade.
Likely 3 Setter – consider laying the winner of the first set.
Hot Tip – I have more confidence in these tips. However, use normal stake sizes.

Tips are deemed unsuccessful at 40% loss of stake.

All odds shown with the tips are correct at time of publishing. Odds are often given several hours ahead of the event. If odds have changed, adjust your back/lay stake accordingly e.g. if I tip ‘Back at 1.5, Lay at 1.25’ – and back odds move to 1.55, adjust your lay odds to 1.3 – there are still 25 ticks between the back and lay odds.

Delay and Trade!! It’s OK to place your trades before the match starts, but in my opinion, waiting 2/3 games before placing your trades is the safest way to trade. This is advised in many of the articles below. To delay and trade will give you a good feel for the match. Delay and Trade is a MUST if you are Backing Heavy. Delaying is advised mostly for the women’s game, as early breaks of serve are more likely.  Please read the relevant article below.

    Hello Patrick,
one question concerning Tsonga v. Murray. Murray lost the 1st set unlucky with 7-5 in tiebreak. When not arming betangel before, what would you do now: Keep in and see the beginning of set #2 or exit and take a small loss?
As I said, it was very close and a littly lucky for Tsonga to win set #1…

    Chris

P.S: Its 19:06 british time and this just happened.

      Hi Chris
Indeed Tsonga was rather lucky to win the first but I traded out the market when the score was at 6-6 with a slight loss because I was using larger stakes. Tie-breaks can always be risky and more importantly these are some of ATP’s top guns we’re talking about. Any unwanted risk is unnecessary in my opinion.
However, your thinking should depend on your stakes. If they are not a huge concern, you can definitely opt for the trade to be run during the tie-break and even a few games in the second set..
      Patrick.

    Hey Patrick,
me again. I think today we see a lot of unusual patterns: Serena Williams v. Wozniacki for example. There was a huge spike for Serena pushing her odds to >5 in the first set. If going out there, you would have lost many swing trade afterwards.
I still have difficulties recognizing wether it is a temporary spike or if it is the begin of a losing streak. Any hints for me beside these given in your written documents here? I lost some pretty money in recent days when chasing a ladder upwards…

The best advice I can give is to trade out while the losses are not too much and see if you can find opportunities to get back in. That’s the only good strategy in such situations. You can also increase the stop loss values if you think the market is behaving strangely. The general 40% stop loss is a guideline and can always be adjusted, PROVIDED YOU ARE WATCHING THE MARKET VERY CAREFULLY..
