FRENCH OPEN DAY 9:
WOMEN:
1. 10:00 – Safarova v Sharapova
While I think Maria is the right favourite here, Safarova’s form is sublime with comfortable wins over 3 tough players: Pavlyuchenkova, Nara and Lisicki. The last time these two faced was in Stuttgart which ended in a marathon 3 tie-breaks in favour of the Russian.
Suggesting to lay Sharapova here as I feel Safarova can definitely make her odds shoot up at the start..
—> Lay Sharapova @1.37, back @1.6
2. 13:00 – Errani v Goerges
Goerges looks like the better player to back at the start here as she has served extremely well in this tournament. On top of that, beating Wozniacki was never an easy task, which she managed to accomplish in 2 sets. I wouldn’t be surprised if Errani gets knocked out today …
—> Lay Errani @1.57, back @2.3
3. 13:00 – Serena Williams v Stephens
Beating Azarenka was a major hurdle for Serena. Now that she’s still alive in the tournament, I feel she’s more than just a good bet for her future matches.
The most recent match between these two was on Clay in Madrid which Serena won with a scoreline of 6-4 6-0.
Go for Serena who is definitely the right favourite here..
—> Back Serena @1.2, lay @1.07
4. 14:30 – Mitu v Uytvanck
Mitu has definitely been a sensation at Roland Garros so far, but for me, Alison Uytvanck has been better, especially after knocking out players like Diyas, Schmiedlova and Mladenovic.
I prefer going for the Belgian Uytvanck today..
—> Lay Mitu @1.94, back @2.6
MENS:
5. 11:30 – Cilic v Ferrer —> HOT TIP
It’s worth noting that while all the talk has been about Djokovic, Nadal, Federer and Murray, one guy who is still in with a chance to win this tournament is David Ferrer who has played some great tennis already.
No doubt Cilic can do some damage on most surfaces against the Spaniard, but this is really one surface that David Ferrer has tamed. Odds of 1.37 look a bit too high for me here.
Suggesting to back Ferrer ..
—> Back Ferrer @1.37, lay @1.14
Good luck!
Some Terms Explained:
Back: Normal Stakes – use 10% of bank.
Back Heavy(BH) – use up to 30% of bank. Used at members discretion. Delay and Trade.
Lay: Normal stakes – use 10% of bank.
Lay Heavy(LH) – use up to 30% of bank. Used at members discretion. Delay and Trade.
Likely 3 Setter – consider laying the winner of the first set.
Hot Tip – I have more confidence in these tips. However, use normal stake sizes.
Tips are deemed unsuccessful at 40% loss of stake.
All odds shown with the tips are correct at time of publishing. Odds are often given several hours ahead of the event. If odds have changed, adjust your back/lay stake accordingly e.g. if I tip ‘Back at 1.5, Lay at 1.25’ – and back odds move to 1.55, adjust your lay odds to 1.3 – there are still 25 ticks between the back and lay odds.
Delay and Trade!! It’s OK to place your trades before the match starts, but in my opinion, waiting 2/3 games before placing your trades is the safest way to trade. This is advised in many of the articles below. To delay and trade will give you a good feel for the match. Delay and Trade is a MUST if you are Backing Heavy. Delaying is advised mostly for the women’s game, as early breaks of serve are more likely. Please read the relevant article below.
