FRENCH OPEN DAY 2:

WOMEN:

1. 11:30 – Wickmayer v Svitolina –> HOT TIP

Svitolina has improved a lot since last year and has already played some good tennis on Clay recently. Definitely going for her here..

—> Back Svitolina @1.26, lay @1.09

2. 15:30 – Allertova v Konta

Allertova’s recent performances on Clay deserve a lot of credit especially in Prague where she beat players like Vandeweghe and Cornet, only to lose to eventual champion Karolina Pliskova in 3 sets.

I feel she is the right player to back today..

—> Back Allertova @1.79, lay @1.4

3. 15:30 – Mitu v Lim

The Romanian Mitu is one of the new guns in WTA who is improving over time. She had a good run at Charleston where she beat decent clay courters like Tomljanovic.
On the contrary, Lim has hardly played any tennis this year.
This is going to be a tough ask for the home favourite Lim!

—> Back Mitu @1.35, lay @1.12

4. 15:30 – Stephens v Venus Williams

While I don’t think Venus will win this Grand Slam, I must say her performance has been pretty good this year, as she played pretty well at the Aussie Open and continued that good run in Doha and Miami.

On Clay, she played in Madrid and Rome where she lost to Azarenka and Halep respectively.
The market is rightly priced here since Venus is a decent clay court player. However, do consider a 3rd set in this match!

—> Back Venus @1.6, lay @1.3

MENS:

5. 10:00 – Dodig v Stepanek —> HOT TIP

Stepanek has had some injury issues recently and hasn’t looked his best this year. Definitely go for Dodig – this could turn out to be an easy win for the Croat.

—> Back Dodig @1.41, lay @1.18

6. 13:30 – Giraldo v Young —> HOT TIP

Must say that Young’s performance on clay this year has been pretty poor. Suggesting to go for the Colombian Giraldo who is always a tough player to beat on Clay.

—> Back Giraldo @1.31, lay @1.12

7. 13:30 – Troicki v Struff

Troicki’s last match on clay was a loss to Nishikori in Rome. Still, he beat players like Feliciano Lopez and Bernard Tomic there. If he can find some of his past form he may be a surprise package this year at Roland Garros.

—> Back Troicki @1.35, lay @1.14

Good luck!

Some Terms Explained:

Back: Normal Stakes – use 10% of bank.
Back Heavy(BH) – use up to 30% of bank. Used at members discretion. Delay and Trade.
Lay: Normal stakes – use 10% of bank.
Lay Heavy(LH) – use up to 30% of bank. Used at members discretion. Delay and Trade.
Likely 3 Setter – consider laying the winner of the first set.
Hot Tip – I have more confidence in these tips. However, use normal stake sizes.

Tips are deemed unsuccessful at 40% loss of stake.

All odds shown with the tips are correct at time of publishing. Odds are often given several hours ahead of the event. If odds have changed, adjust your back/lay stake accordingly e.g. if I tip ‘Back at 1.5, Lay at 1.25’ – and back odds move to 1.55, adjust your lay odds to 1.3 – there are still 25 ticks between the back and lay odds.

Delay and Trade!! It’s OK to place your trades before the match starts, but in my opinion, waiting 2/3 games before placing your trades is the safest way to trade. This is advised in many of the articles below. To delay and trade will give you a good feel for the match. Delay and Trade is a MUST if you are Backing Heavy. Delaying is advised mostly for the women’s game, as early breaks of serve are more likely.  Please read the relevant article below.
