All times are UK/Irish and are subject to change, and all times are in 24hr format e.g., 01.00 = 1am and 16:00 = 4pm:

PLEASE NOTE, IF THERE ARE LIQUIDITY ISSUES, ALWAYS KEEP THE STAKES LOW

MIAMI OPEN:

MEN:

1. 15:00 – Kukushkin v Johnson

Johnson has really stepped up his performance in the past few months with good victories against players like Dodig and Karlovic. With the insurance of his solid serves, I feel he’s the right player to back here at the start..

—> Back Johnson @1.42, lay @1.18

2. 21:45 – Vesely v Delbonis

Vesely had a decent run at the Auckland Open prior to the Australian Open. Delbonis is more of a clay courter so I’m fancying this to go in favour of Vesely.

—> Back Vesely @1.62, lay @1.3

3. 01:00 – Hewitt v Bellucci

Hewitt hasn’t played a match since Australian Open. Having said that, Bellucci’s form has been abysmal at the moment losing 8 matches in a row. Markets are probably rightly priced here but as one of the best hard courters of the past, I am going to give Hewitt a chance today!

—> Lay Bellucci @1.84, back @2.6

Keep the stakes low or medium here!

WOMEN:

4. 16:30 – Strycova v Mladenovic

After a good run at Antwerp, Strycova hasn’t really done much.

However, in general, she has vastly improved as a player in the last year or so. I am going to go with the odds here and suggest to back her against Mladenovic.

—> Back Strycova @1.46, lay @1.18

5. 18:00 – Cornet v Vesnina

I must say I was surprised by the scoreline of Vesnina against Dulgheru yesterday. That wasn’t on the script.

Eventhough Cornet leads 3-1 in head to head and is a very tough hard court player, I feel Vesnina is going to give her a tough match tomorrow so suggesting to lay the favourite..

—> Lay Cornet @1.55, back @2.1

6. 19:30 – Makarova v Knapp —> HOT TIP

Possibly one of the best bets of the day on the Russian Makarova who is one tough player to beat for even some of the very top players. I just can’t see Knapp outplaying her !

—> Back Makarova @1.2, lay @1.06

7. 20:00 – Garcia v Nara

With her decent form at present, I am definitely with the bookies on this market, as I feel Garcia is simply one of the best servers in WTA at the moment and hugely under-rated. She also has enough power to out-play her opponents so expecting her to start better against the Japanese Kurumi Nara.

—> Back Garcia @1.33, lay @1.16

Good luck!

Some Terms Explained:

Back: Normal Stakes – use 10% of bank.
Back Heavy(BH) – use up to 30% of bank. Used at members discretion. Delay and Trade.
Lay: Normal stakes – use 10% of bank.
Lay Heavy(LH) – use up to 30% of bank. Used at members discretion. Delay and Trade.
Likely 3 Setter – consider laying the winner of the first set.
Hot Tip – I have more confidence in these tips. However, use normal stake sizes.

Tips are deemed unsuccessful at 40% loss of stake.

All odds shown with the tips are correct at time of publishing. Odds are often given several hours ahead of the event. If odds have changed, adjust your back/lay stake accordingly e.g. if I tip ‘Back at 1.5, Lay at 1.25’ – and back odds move to 1.55, adjust your lay odds to 1.3 – there are still 25 ticks between the back and lay odds.

Delay and Trade!! It’s OK to place your trades before the match starts, but in my opinion, waiting 2/3 games before placing your trades is the safest way to trade. This is advised in many of the articles below. To delay and trade will give you a good feel for the match. Delay and Trade is a MUST if you are Backing Heavy. Delaying is advised mostly for the women’s game, as early breaks of serve are more likely.  Please read the relevant article below.
