FRENCH OPEN DAY 12:

WOMEN:

1. 14:00 – Ana Ivanovic v Lucie Safarova

These 2 are big surprises for this year’s semi-final.

While I would have given Ivanovic a slight chance, Safarova probably wasn’t that easy to predict.
However, if one looks at Lucie’s best form in Grandslams, 2014 was definitely the year for her, as she reached the 4th round at US Open and the Semis at Wimbledon.

While Ivanovic dominated a tired looking Svitolina in her earlier match, Safarova had a much tougher match against Muguruza.

I am going to give her more credit for that win and agree with the bookies that she should be the favourite. If she can serve as slick as she has done so far, the Czech has a decent chance here..

—> Back Safarova @1.75, lay @1.4

2. 15:30 – Serena Williams v Timea Bacsinszky

Interestingly, eventhough Serena’s biggest threats to the French Open crown on paper are former French Open Champ Ana Ivanovic and ‘Sharapova killer’ Lucie Safarova, the reality is that Timea Bacsinszky is not just good, she is superb!

If one looks at Timea’s game from few years back, there was no indication of such a resurgence of form. Whatever she has done to make her game better has worked way beyond expectations. Not only is she a steady server with enough sting, she has some huge power in both the forehands and backhands.

I suggest to lay Serena as she has started poor a few times in this tournament. However, eventually, she may end up as the winner after all..

In my opinion, Serena must treat Timea as her finalist tomorrow or else we may see an upset here.

—> Lay Serena Williams @1.18, back @1.55

Good luck!

Some Terms Explained:

Back: Normal Stakes – use 10% of bank.
Back Heavy(BH) – use up to 30% of bank. Used at members discretion. Delay and Trade.
Lay: Normal stakes – use 10% of bank.
Lay Heavy(LH) – use up to 30% of bank. Used at members discretion. Delay and Trade.
Likely 3 Setter – consider laying the winner of the first set.
Hot Tip – I have more confidence in these tips. However, use normal stake sizes.

Tips are deemed unsuccessful at 40% loss of stake.

All odds shown with the tips are correct at time of publishing. Odds are often given several hours ahead of the event. If odds have changed, adjust your back/lay stake accordingly e.g. if I tip ‘Back at 1.5, Lay at 1.25’ – and back odds move to 1.55, adjust your lay odds to 1.3 – there are still 25 ticks between the back and lay odds.

Delay and Trade!! It’s OK to place your trades before the match starts, but in my opinion, waiting 2/3 games before placing your trades is the safest way to trade. This is advised in many of the articles below. To delay and trade will give you a good feel for the match. Delay and Trade is a MUST if you are Backing Heavy. Delaying is advised mostly for the women’s game, as early breaks of serve are more likely.  Please read the relevant article below.
