All times are UK/Irish and are subject to change, and all times are in 24hr format e.g., 01.00 = 1am and 16:00 = 4pm:

1. 11:00 – Klizan vs Brown

I agree that Klizan must be the favourite here, but Brown demolished Andrey Kuznetsov in the earlier round and his serve stats say this need not be a straightforward match for the favourite.

Suggesting to lay Klizan here but do keep the stakes low …

—> Lay Klizan @1.46, back @1.75

2. 12:45 – Berlocq v Almagro

Berlocq had a close shave against Busta in his previous match. If he doesn’t step up his game, a clay court specialist like Almagro is going to punish him big time! My money is definitely on the favourite here..

—> Back Almagro @1.38, lay @1.18

3. 11:00 – Nicuelscu v Mladenovic

From what I have seen so far at Katowice, the courts seem rather pacy and may not suit very defensive players except Radwanska or Wozniacki. I am suggesting to lay Niculescu here as Mladenovic may indeed get the better start..

—> Lay Niculescu @1.75, back @2.24

4. 15:00 – Giorgi v Linette –> HOT TIP

I fancy Giorgi to start quicker here but don’t be too surprised if Linette takes this one to a third set. This could be one of the matches of the day to trade, so consider giving lay prices of 1.05 and below on Giorgi, once you have greened out!

—> Back Giorgi @1.32, lay @1.12

5. 19:45 – Delbonis v Anderson

Anderson leads 1-0 on Clay against Delbonis. However, it must be pointed out that this match was won on a 7-6 7-6 score back in 2012. Considering Delbo is a much improved player now, I feel there is good reason in laying Anderson today.

—> Lay Anderson @1.63, back @2.5

Again, suggesting to keep the stakes to low or medium for this tip…

6. 01:45 – F.Lopez v Groth

I must say I was really impressed with Groth’s serves against Estrella Burgos in his first match. If he can continue with that sort of consistency, Lopez may have a bit of trouble in getting to the next round.

Suggesting to lay Lopez here ..

—> Lay Lopez @1.34, back @1.7

7. 16:30 – S.Rogers v Sorribes Tormo

Rogers knocked out a very tricky player in Soler-Espinosa previously.

Considering her clay court performance last season was rather impressive at Austria where she knocked out players like Errani, Giorgi and Suarez Navarro (all in 2 sets!!), I feel her game is on the rise.

She is more likely to perform well at Charleston.

—> Back Rogers @1.61, lay @1.34

Good luck!

Some Terms Explained:

Back: Normal Stakes – use 10% of bank.
Back Heavy(BH) – use up to 30% of bank. Used at members discretion. Delay and Trade.
Lay: Normal stakes – use 10% of bank.
Lay Heavy(LH) – use up to 30% of bank. Used at members discretion. Delay and Trade.
Likely 3 Setter – consider laying the winner of the first set.
Hot Tip – I have more confidence in these tips. However, use normal stake sizes.

Tips are deemed unsuccessful at 40% loss of stake.

All odds shown with the tips are correct at time of publishing. Odds are often given several hours ahead of the event. If odds have changed, adjust your back/lay stake accordingly e.g. if I tip ‘Back at 1.5, Lay at 1.25’ – and back odds move to 1.55, adjust your lay odds to 1.3 – there are still 25 ticks between the back and lay odds.

Delay and Trade!! It’s OK to place your trades before the match starts, but in my opinion, waiting 2/3 games before placing your trades is the safest way to trade. This is advised in many of the articles below. To delay and trade will give you a good feel for the match. Delay and Trade is a MUST if you are Backing Heavy. Delaying is advised mostly for the women’s game, as early breaks of serve are more likely.  Please read the relevant article below.
