I like these ATP picks, but might delay and trade on the Agut vs Johnson to see how well Johnson is serving. Steve had the best week of his career at Delray Beach last week, and confidence means a lot in this game. I can see a close match here with lots of break point chances both both guys.
Just saw that the odds for Agut have now shrunk to 1.45, so I guess I am in the minority here.
I think that BetFair had an error with Nedovyesov v Sousa match odds market.
At 20:07:22 (in CET time), the price of Sousa jumped from 1.5 to 3.0.
Match started at 20:10
This was a couple of minutes before the kick-off. This was a very big
change in the price.
This unnatural behaviour occurred me a losing trade, because my Stop
Loss bet was matched.
I have never seen this kind of high jump of the odds before the match
started before.
Anyone else notice this strange behaviour?
Yeah had reports from other members of the same thing. Very strange.Patrick.
YES, I lost double on that match because I saw it as a very good opportunity, so when I came back to check I was very surprised to see a loosing trade, my stop loss was also triggered and I did not follow the match until after the first set. I just assumed that he got down a break or two and somehow came back to win the first set. I saw the betfair chart odds at 3 as well. That is really annoying.
P.S. Looks like your Agut is wining comfortably, good pick.
Thanks Jack! Yeah looking good at the moment. Lets hope he finishes is off. Thats our betting tip for the day too!! Patrick.
Never trade a match you can not see live. Nedovyesov – Sousa match was not broadcast anywhere to my knowledge. Then you wont be surprised by a big change in odds. Are you sure that odds on Sousa changed from 1.5 to 3 just before the start of the match? It would indicate some injury issues. We had some injury retirements recently with a real nice one courtesy of DelPo in Dubai.. After losing a first set tiebreaker to Devarman his odds were still in 1.5-1.6 range. If you put money on Devarman you would get nice 150% profit. I was a bit late but managed to get healthy 60%. Similar thing happened with Ferrer who after winning first set against Anderson in Acapulco retired being 4-2 down. One of my favorites guys to watch for injury is Tommy Haas. Last week in Sao Paulo in semis against Lorenzi and before in Aussie Open against Garcia-Lopez. Last year Tommy provided 2 w/o and one retirement in 1 set though….He is almost 36 so im not surprised. Patrick – you should maybe post something about injury hunting ?
Regards
Hi Matthew – completely agree with trading and watching live, especially with bigger stakes. I’ll write something up about injury hunting in the next few days and send the link out when its done..
Patrick.
I took the avantage of Delporto match right as the tiebreak ended, manged to do the same with Ferrer. Sadly mised the Haas match. How about Azarenka last night? That was a crazy match, managed to take advantage of it but got a bit of a scare and didn’t make all I could going into the tiebreak. Of course Nadal in Australian open was a good example too, sadly I was on the wrong side of that one.
Yeah i had connection issues and could not close the trade when Davis odds hit 1.07 when it looked as if Aza might retire. After a while the odds went back to 1.4-1.5 territory and i ended up even. Sadly i live in 3rd world country now and internet sucks there…
Matthew, yes the odds jump happened before the match start. This kind of odds change is not normal, I think.
I have uploaded the screenshot about the jump:

In my opinion this is not too safe for a trader…
There was a relatively low volume of trading of Sousa odds at odds higher that 1.5 up to peak of 3. Around few hundred looking at the chart when the whole volume was over 60k. I would say that somebody made mistake and somebody took advantage and made quickly few hundred euros.
