Betfair Tennis Trading Tips: ATP/WTA Thursday 8th January 2015

tennis ball map of world

All times are UK/Irish and are subject to change, and all times are in 24hr format e.g., 01.00 = 1am and 16:00 = 4pm:

PLEASE NOTE, IF THERE ARE LIQUIDITY ISSUES, ALWAYS KEEP THE STAKES LOW

ATP BRISBANE:

1. 03:00 – Nishikori v Tomic

Nishikori has so much more weapons in his arsenal than Tomic, hence I’m very much inclined to backing him at the start here. Also worth noting that Tomic has had to play a ton of games so far in Brisbane. I expect the Japanese phenom to shine here.

–> Back Nishi @1.38, lay @1.14

WTA ASB CLASSIC:

2. 05:15 – Venus Williams v Lauren Davis –> HOT TIP

Venus has breezed past every opponent so far. Lauren on the other hand had to dig deep by playing 3 setters in 3 consecutive games thus far. This is going to be a big ask for her to beat an in-form Venus in my opinion.

—> Back Venus @1.29, lay @1.07

ATP CHENNAI:

3. 06:30 – Wawrinka v Muller

Stan really played good against the young Croatian Coric in his last match. As the defending champ, I’m confident of him getting through this one. Definitely back Stan ‘The Man’ early on..

–> Back Wawrinka @1.24, lay @1.1

HOPMAN CUP:

4. 02:00 – Cornet v Radwanska

So far, Radwanska has been the better player at the Hopman cup and is yet to lose a set. She’s the right favourite for me here as she had a considerably easier match against Dellacqua who took Cornet all the way to a deciding set.

–> Back Radwa @1.38, lay @1.16

5. 09:30 – Dellacqua v Watson –> HOT TIP

The Brit Heather Watson has been really poor throughout this tournament winning only 8 games in 2 matches. Dellacqua, even though she hasn’t won a match yet, has looked considerably better and aggressive.

For me, the Australian is likely to win this one!

–> Back Dellacqua @1.6, lay @1.25

Good luck!

Some Terms Explained:

Back: Normal Stakes – use 10% of bank.
Back Heavy(BH) – use up to 30% of bank. Used at members discretion. Delay and Trade.
Lay: Normal stakes – use 10% of bank.
Lay Heavy(LH) – use up to 30% of bank. Used at members discretion. Delay and Trade.
Likely 3 Setter – consider laying the winner of the first set.
Hot Tip – I have more confidence in these tips. However, use normal stake sizes.

Tips are deemed unsuccessful at 40% loss of stake.

All odds shown with the tips are correct at time of publishing. Odds are often given several hours ahead of the event. If odds have changed, adjust your back/lay stake accordingly e.g. if I tip ‘Back at 1.5, Lay at 1.25’ – and back odds move to 1.55, adjust your lay odds to 1.3 – there are still 25 ticks between the back and lay odds.

Delay and Trade!! It’s OK to place your trades before the match starts, but in my opinion, waiting 2/3 games before placing your trades is the safest way to trade. This is advised in many of the articles below. To delay and trade will give you a good feel for the match. Delay and Trade is a MUST if you are Backing Heavy. Delaying is advised mostly for the women’s game, as early breaks of serve are more likely.  Please read the relevant article below.
