WIMBLEDON DAY 1:

MEN:

1. 11:30 – Haider Maurer v Berankis

Current form of Berankis is far better, as was displayed @ ATP Halle. Haider on the contrary, is on a 3 game losing streak. Go for the favourite..

—> Back Berankis @1.61, lay @1.25

2. 13:45 – Nieminen v Hewitt

Even with Hewitt’s recent poor form, I think this market is rightly priced with the Australian as the favourite.
Personally, I thought he put up a good show at Queens and should have really knocked out Kevin Anderson there as he served and returned pretty well in that match. Nieminen will have a tough match here..

—> Back Hewitt @1.63, lay @1.25

3. 14:30 – Lacko v S.Johnson

Not a lot to add here other than the fact that Johnson is constantly improving as a player and is pretty decent on Grass.

Expecting him to win this one.

—> Back Johnson @1.44, lay @1.19

4. 15:15 – Burgos v Becker

Bit surprised Becker is so highly priced. If there are no injuries to the German, this should be a straightforward win.

Go for Becker here..

—> Back Becker @1.78, lay @1.45

5. 16:45 – Young v Baghdatis —> HOT TIP

This is a HOT BET in my opinion for the reason that Baghdatis’ form is spot on coming into Wimbledon while Young has had a tough past few months. Definitely with the Cypriot here..

—> Back Baghdatis @1.62, lay @1.25

WOMEN:

6. 11:30 – Vandeweghe v Schmiedlova

While Coco Vandeweghe does possess a great serve, she tends to crack rather quickly if things don’t go her way.
For this reason, I am suggesting to lay her against a very talented Schmiedlova who has generally had a good season.

—> Lay Vandeweghe @1.39, back @1.65

7. 12:00 – Bacsinszky v Goerges

A possible 3 setter but fancying Bacsinszky to dominate this match against Goerges.

—> Back Bacsinszky @1.44, lay @1.18

8. 13:00 – Dulgheru v Mladenovic –> HOT TIP

Current form of Mladenovic is pretty superb. Surprised the odds are this high on her.

—> Back Mladenovic @1.35, lay @1.18

9. 13:45 – Krunic v Vinci

Two games on grass and both losses for Vinci, while Krunic showed some good display at Birmingham beating players like Watson.

Suggesting to lay Vinci as I think this could be an upset!

—> Lay Vinci @1.53, back @2

10. 15:15 – Sharapova v Konta

While Konta has played in 3 Grass tournaments already, Sharapova is yet to play one. With that in mind and also Konta’s brilliant form in general, I am suggesting to lay Maria Sharapova as this could turn out to be a tough one for her.

—> Lay Sharapova @1.13, back @1.4

11. 16:00 – Hantuchova v Cibulkova

Surprisingly, Hantu leads 4-0 in head to head stats with the last match coming in 2012. However, it’s fair to say that Cibu is a completely different player now. Suggesting to go for the favourite here ..

—> Back Cibu @1.84, lay @1.5

12. 17:30 – Duque Marino v Broady

Naomi Broady has certainly impressed me in the last few weeks with her solid serves and very aggressive nature of Tennis. I’m agreeing with these odds which could end in a straightforward victory for the young Brit.

–> Back Broady @1.81, lay @1.45

== PLEASE NOTE, SOME MATCHES MAY HAVE LIQUIDITY ISSUES SO STAKE ACCORDINGLY ==

Good luck for Day 1 of Wimbledon!

Some Terms Explained:

Back: Normal Stakes – use 10% of bank.
Back Heavy(BH) – use up to 30% of bank. Used at members discretion. Delay and Trade.
Lay: Normal stakes – use 10% of bank.
Lay Heavy(LH) – use up to 30% of bank. Used at members discretion. Delay and Trade.
Likely 3 Setter – consider laying the winner of the first set.
Hot Tip – I have more confidence in these tips. However, use normal stake sizes.

Tips are deemed unsuccessful at 40% loss of stake.

All odds shown with the tips are correct at time of publishing. Odds are often given several hours ahead of the event. If odds have changed, adjust your back/lay stake accordingly e.g. if I tip ‘Back at 1.5, Lay at 1.25’ – and back odds move to 1.55, adjust your lay odds to 1.3 – there are still 25 ticks between the back and lay odds.

Delay and Trade!! It’s OK to place your trades before the match starts, but in my opinion, waiting 2/3 games before placing your trades is the safest way to trade. This is advised in many of the articles below. To delay and trade will give you a good feel for the match. Delay and Trade is a MUST if you are Backing Heavy. Delaying is advised mostly for the women’s game, as early breaks of serve are more likely.  Please read the relevant article below.
