WIMBLEDON DAY 2:

MEN:

1. 11:30 – Lu v Brown

In 2010, Lu caused one of the biggest upsets in Wimbledon history by beating Andy Roddick in a thriller of match.
In my opinion, he has always been a decent grass courter and played really well at Nottingham, beating Seppi and Lopez in 2 sets.

Go for the favourite Lu..

—> Back Lu @1.75, lay @1.4

2. 11:30 – Karlovic v Ymer

It’s really a huge challenge for the young Ymer to face such a huge serve in the 1st round at Wimbledon.

Must say, with Karlo’s recent form, I don’t see much hope for the underdog..

—> Back Karlo @1.2, lay @1.06

3. 13:00 – Stakhovsky v Coric –> HOT TIP

Suggesting to go for the favourite as the Ukranian Stakhovsky is far more experienced on such a big stage.

This should be a straightforward win for him I feel.

—> Back Stakho @1.33, lay @1.16

4. 15:30 – Ward v Vanni

Ward has actually lost 4 of his 5 previous matches but it’s fair to say he played really well against Raonic at Queens and Smyczek at Nottingham. Vanni is only in the tournament because Ferrer pulled out with an injury. I think Ferrer’s exit is fortunate for the young Brit who should really get past the inexperieced grass courter, Vanni.

—> Back Ward @1.6, lay @1.25

WOMEN:

5. 11:30 – Doi v Svitolina

Interesting that Svitolina was a victim of Doi at last year’s Wimbledon. Still, I do think Svito is a much more aggressive player now.
This could still go to Doi if it goes the distance, but I’m fancying a quick win for the favourite..

—> Back Svitolina @1.6, lay @1.3

6. 13:45 – Rodina v Robson –> HOT TIP

Both players have lost their only Grass court match this season. While Rodina lost by a respectable scoreline of 7-5 6-3 to Van Uytvanck, Laura Robson was utterly humiliated by the Russian Gavrilova with a 6-0, 6-1 score.

I must go for Rodina here as this one could be over pretty quickly considering Robson’s lack of practice and injury issues.

—> Back Rodina @1.5, lay @1.2

7. 15:15 – Jankovic v Vesnina –> HOT TIP

Janko has played pretty well at both the Grass tourneys in Holland and Birmingham. I’m suggesting to go for her as the momentum is definitely with the Serbian.

—> Back Janko @1.4, lay @1.16

Some Terms Explained:

Back: Normal Stakes – use 10% of bank.
Back Heavy(BH) – use up to 30% of bank. Used at members discretion. Delay and Trade.
Lay: Normal stakes – use 10% of bank.
Lay Heavy(LH) – use up to 30% of bank. Used at members discretion. Delay and Trade.
Likely 3 Setter – consider laying the winner of the first set.
Hot Tip – I have more confidence in these tips. However, use normal stake sizes.

Tips are deemed unsuccessful at 40% loss of stake.

All odds shown with the tips are correct at time of publishing. Odds are often given several hours ahead of the event. If odds have changed, adjust your back/lay stake accordingly e.g. if I tip ‘Back at 1.5, Lay at 1.25’ – and back odds move to 1.55, adjust your lay odds to 1.3 – there are still 25 ticks between the back and lay odds.

Delay and Trade!! It’s OK to place your trades before the match starts, but in my opinion, waiting 2/3 games before placing your trades is the safest way to trade. This is advised in many of the articles below. To delay and trade will give you a good feel for the match. Delay and Trade is a MUST if you are Backing Heavy. Delaying is advised mostly for the women’s game, as early breaks of serve are more likely.  Please read the relevant article below.
