WIMBLEDON DAY 5:

MEN:

1. 12:15 – Baghdatis v Goffin

Interesting that Baghdatis has never lost to Goffin and his current form on Grass is pretty good. I’m suggesting to lay Goffin but keep the stakes to low/medium.

—> Lay Goffin @1.57, back @1.85

2. 12:15 – Kyrgios v Raonic

The last time these two faced each other was in Wimbledon 2014 which Raonic won in 4 sets. The Canadian has the overall game variety, so sticking with the favourite.

—> Back Raonic @1.49, lay @1.24

3. 13:00 – Dimitrov v Gasquet

This is one clash you don’t want to miss tomorrow!

As much as I adore Gasquet’s game, Dimitrov’s aggression in his last 2 matches makes me incline towards him for this encounter.

Go for Dimi at the start but never rule out a comeback as this could go all the way. Personally I would pick a 4/5 set win for Dimitrov.

—> Back Dimi @1.8, lay @1.4

4. 13:00 – Wawrinka v Verdasco —> HOT TIP

If Verdasco could find some of his past form, this match could be a mouthwatering affair. Unfortunately, at the moment Stan is so much the better player and looks a danger to Djokovic and the rest.

—> Back Wawrinka @1.22, lay @1.06

5. 13:45 – L.Mayer v Anderson

While Anderson should be the favourite mainly due to his serves and overall game on Grass, Leo Mayer is one tough cookie to crack. I am predicting this to be a real challenge for the big South African.

—> Lay Anderson @1.5, back @1.85

6. 15:15 – Kudla v Giraldo

While Giraldo beat a less experienced J.Souza in the 1st round and got lucky in the 2nd round through Nishikori’s walkover, the American Kudla played some solid tennis in knocking out a tough Cuevas and the young German talent, A.Zverev.

—> Back Kudla @1.56, lay @1.2

7. 16:45 – Cilic v Isner

Cilic’s last opponent, Berankis,  turned out to be a major threat to his Wimbledon hopes but somehow he hung in there. His next challenge comes from big serving John Isner who may be finding that extra gear just at the right time in the tournament.

This is a pretty hard one to call honestly but since Cilic has had some injury issues recently, I would suggest laying him ..

—> Lay Cilic @1.76, back @2.5

Keep the stakes low for this tip..

WOMEN:

8. 14:30 – Vandeweghe v Stosur

Vandeweghe had tougher opponents so far through Schmiedlova and Karolina Pliskova and beat them both in 2 sets. Also, she’s served spectacularly so far.

I agree she should be the slight favourite.

—> Back Vandeweghe @1.8, lay @1.35

9. 16:00 – Krunic v Venus Williams

Krunic’s match against Errani was simply breathtaking with one amazing shot after the other. With an edgy and inconsistent Venus, I feel the right tip is to lay the American in what could be a possible upset!

—> Lay Venus @1.21, back @1.65

Good luck!

Some Terms Explained:

Back: Normal Stakes – use 10% of bank.
Back Heavy(BH) – use up to 30% of bank. Used at members discretion. Delay and Trade.
Lay: Normal stakes – use 10% of bank.
Lay Heavy(LH) – use up to 30% of bank. Used at members discretion. Delay and Trade.
Likely 3 Setter – consider laying the winner of the first set.
Hot Tip – I have more confidence in these tips. However, use normal stake sizes.

Tips are deemed unsuccessful at 40% loss of stake.

All odds shown with the tips are correct at time of publishing. Odds are often given several hours ahead of the event. If odds have changed, adjust your back/lay stake accordingly e.g. if I tip ‘Back at 1.5, Lay at 1.25’ – and back odds move to 1.55, adjust your lay odds to 1.3 – there are still 25 ticks between the back and lay odds.

Delay and Trade!! It’s OK to place your trades before the match starts, but in my opinion, waiting 2/3 games before placing your trades is the safest way to trade. This is advised in many of the articles below. To delay and trade will give you a good feel for the match. Delay and Trade is a MUST if you are Backing Heavy. Delaying is advised mostly for the women’s game, as early breaks of serve are more likely.  Please read the relevant article below.
