Weekly Tennis Preview

With the Australian Open just around the corner, a brief look into this week’s tournaments..

Active Tournaments:

WTA Brisbane:

With World No.1 Kerber getting stunned yesterday by Kasatkina, Aga Radwanska is the right favourite currently at Brisbane. Having said that, Johanna Konta has played some superb Tennis and so has Bouchard and the very experienced Wozniacki.

If Aga can serve consistently, this is her tournament, else Konta wins it for me.

ATP Brisbane:

While Troicki’s form isn’t too shabby and Kohlschreiber has the experience, I believe Dominic Thiem is the right favourite on paper at Brisbane this week.
The surprise package could easily be the Russian Andrey Kuznetsov who had a very impressive 2016!

WTA Hobart:

My HOT OUTRIGHT BET for this tournament is on Monica Niculescu who is natural hard court player and ended 2016 on a high, winning tournaments like WTA Luxembourg beating Petra Kvitova in the final. Currently priced around 5 on most bookies, I feel she is a great bet with no major opposition to worry about. Shelby Rogers and Johanna Larsson look decent outsiders as well, but the surprise package here could be Jana Fett, who I have been monitoring closely in the past week.

ATP Auckland:

I see a very good year for the Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut who is one of the favourites here in New Zealand. John Isner is worth avoiding while his compatriot Jack Sock was pretty solid at the Hopman Cup representing Team USA.
Worth also noting that David Ferrer didn’t look that bad in his last tournament, even though losing to outsider Jordan Thompson.

My money is on Agut to snatch his 2nd consecutive ATP Title in 2017!

Thanks for reading..

Patrick
