WTA/ATP Weekly Preview.

WTA:

1. WTA KATOWICE: HARD COURT

Favourite: A.Radwanska

Radwanska was rather unlucky to lose against Flavia Pennetta some weeks back in the final. If she’s fit enough, she is the right favourite for this tournament. All stats indicate at present that she’s definitely playing some good tennis!

Outsiders: Cornet and Suarez Navarro

Consistency is always an issue with Suarez Navarro and that maybe the only downfall for her. However, Cornet has had a decent year beating Serena Williams few months back. If her serves remain consistent, I think she can definitely make it to the final!:

PREDICTION: I’d pick Cornet or Radwanska to reach the final. However, overall the better hard court player among the two is definitely Radwanska. My money would be on her to win it all!

2. WTA COPA CLARO: CLAY COURT

Favourite: Jankovic

A gruesome match against Bouchard the other day, Jankovic would be looking forward to another Clay Court event. She definitely has the form and the service stats to win this one!

Outsiders: Stephens, Ormaechea and Dominguez Lino

Sloane was pretty blown away by Svitolina in her previous attempt on Clay. However, I still think she has the potential to win this one.
Ormaechea’s stats on clay is rather impressive and I feel she may have a part to play here. Dominguez Lino is one of the underdogs who blew away T.Pereira ( a tough cookie to crack on clay) in her previous match, so I feel she may be good enough to at least reach the Semis.

PREDICTION : Jankovic or Ormaechea

Amongst the underdogs, I fancy Ormaechea to make a mark but it’s hard to go against Jankovic for the title. Jankovic to win for me!

ATP :

1. ATP GRAND PRIX HASSAN: CLAY

Favourites: Monfils and Anderson

These are the close favourites for this tournament. I tend to incline towards Monfils as he’s showing some brilliant form currently.

Outsiders: Haase and Ramos

Robin Haase showed some decent Clay Court form last year. I expect him to play well and reach at least the Quarter Finals. Ramos has always been a decent clay courter. I think he may be a major threat to the favourites!

PREDICTION: Monfils or Ramos

I feel by form Monfils has more than a decent chance to win this event. With the French open not far away, he would want to prove that he’s not as an easy challenge on Clay Courts. Ramos has a good chance as well due to his fondness for Clay events. However if he doesn’t serve as well as he can he will have some issues. Overall, I think Monfils is the better among the two. So let’s just say, ‘Alle Monfils!’

2. ATP CLAY COURT CHAMPIONSHIPS:

Favourites: Isner and Robredo

Isner is a decent player and with his huge serves on this surface, he will be hard to read. Robredo historically has performed exceptionally well on Clay so he’s rightly the second, if not the main favourite for this event!

Outsiders: Almagro and Monaco

If this was a hard court event, I would have dismissed off Nicolas Almagro. However, his clay court expertise cannot be ignored. He’s simply one tough player on this surface, especially when his serves work.
Monaco, I feel, is good enough to at least reach the quarter finals for this event. His recent form indicates he’s coming back to his old self and must be taken seriously!

PREDICTION: Robredo or Monaco

Robredo is probably the best bet for the Outright market for this event due to his overall high consistency on Clay. Monaco, being one of the underdogs is worth a punt as like I mentioned earlier, he seems to be catching on some form at present. Overall, Robredo is the better player and likely to emerge as the winner for this tournament!
