All times are UK/Irish and are subject to change, and all times are in 24hr format e.g., 01.00 = 1am and 16:00 = 4pm:

1. 16:30 – Schwartzman v Fognini –> HOT TIP

I am very much inclined to go with the Argentian Schwartzman here due to his performances recently. He played a very good Australian Open although losing to Kevin Anderson in 4 sets (a rather close match), and is coming into this tournament beating a very decent clay courter, Lorenzi.

I feel the odds on Fognini are extremely likely to jump sometime during the first set.

—> Lay Fognini @1.81, back @2.5

2. 22:45 – Souza v Klizan

Klizan was unbelievably lucky against Bellucci and somehow managed to edge past the Brazilian in the previous match. This time, he faces another home favourite in Souza who served extremely well against the Spaniard Busta. I dislike the odds here on Klizan, hence suggesting to lay the Slovakian.

—> Lay Klizan @1.5, back @1.9

3. 15:30 – Strycova v Cornet

Interesting that Alize Cornet has won all the 4 matches played between these two. However, by current form, I feel the Czech should be the right favourite just as the bookies have priced. Fancying Strycova to play well just as she did against Wickmayer in the last match!

—> Back Strycova @1.75, lay @1.35

4. 16:00 – Schiavone v Kerber

So far the player who has impressed me the most in this tournament is the former French Open champ, Francesca Schiavone. After a poor Aussie Open, she has coming into this tournament as a qualifier and blown her opponents away without losing a set. Also, her serves have been spot on thus far. I do sense an upset here as Kerber hasn’t been at her absolute best recently!

—> Lay Kerber @1.36, back @1.9

I’m going to suggest laying Kerber if she wins the first set as I do think Schia is good enough to take this one to a decider..

Good luck!

Some Terms Explained:

Back: Normal Stakes – use 10% of bank.
Back Heavy(BH) – use up to 30% of bank. Used at members discretion. Delay and Trade.
Lay: Normal stakes – use 10% of bank.
Lay Heavy(LH) – use up to 30% of bank. Used at members discretion. Delay and Trade.
Likely 3 Setter – consider laying the winner of the first set.
Hot Tip – I have more confidence in these tips. However, use normal stake sizes.

Tips are deemed unsuccessful at 40% loss of stake.

All odds shown with the tips are correct at time of publishing. Odds are often given several hours ahead of the event. If odds have changed, adjust your back/lay stake accordingly e.g. if I tip ‘Back at 1.5, Lay at 1.25’ – and back odds move to 1.55, adjust your lay odds to 1.3 – there are still 25 ticks between the back and lay odds.

Delay and Trade!! It’s OK to place your trades before the match starts, but in my opinion, waiting 2/3 games before placing your trades is the safest way to trade. This is advised in many of the articles below. To delay and trade will give you a good feel for the match. Delay and Trade is a MUST if you are Backing Heavy. Delaying is advised mostly for the women’s game, as early breaks of serve are more likely.  Please read the relevant article below.
