Spartan Tennis Trading Tips U.S. Open Day 7

us openSpartan Trading Tips are published when all have been played – in order to get Today’s Tips, join by clicking here and I’ll mail them to you!!

All times are UK/Irish and are subject to change, and all times are in 24hr format e.g., 01.00 = 1am and 16:00 = 4pm:

1. 18:10 – Venus Williams vs Kontaveit –> HOT TIP (NO STOP LOSS SUGGESTED)

To everyone’s surprise Venus has stepped up her game big time, especially her serve. While her initial two rounds went to 3 sets, the last match was an aggressive performance in beating a very talented Bencic in 2 sets.

I can see a quick start for the older Williams sister here..

—> Back Venus @1.22, Lay @1.07

2. 02:15 – Mladenovic v Makarova

No doubt Makarova has played well here and should be the favourite considering the fact she also leads Mladenovic in head to head  2-0. Having said that, it’s worth noting these matches went to deciding sets and Mladenovic actually won the first set on both occasions.

Makarova has issues handling Mladenovic’s serves.

I suggest laying Makarova at the start as it could very well go in Mlad’s favour, who is yet to lose a set so far.

—> Lay Makarova @1.67, Back @2.38

3. 16:00 – Cilic v Chardy

Even with Chardy’s impressive display over Klizan and Ferrer, I believe the defending Champ has the goods in his arsenal to win this one.

Basically, I feel Cilic is the much better all rounder and doesn’t just rely on his serves alone to win matches.

With an already impressive comeback against a very tough Kukushkin, Cilic will more likely start well here.

—> Back Cilic @1.55, Lay @1.3

4. 17:30 – Paire v Tsonga —> NO STOP LOSS SUGGESTED

I can’t quite understand why Paire is not given enough credit by the bookies today. The guy has knocked out Nishikori and blew away Robredo in 3 sets.

While winning this one may indeed be hard, the fact is that Tsonga will not have it all his way.

Definitely suggesting to lay Tsonga here as Paire has the serve and the power to seriously trouble his compatriot.

—> Lay Tsonga @1.34, Back @2

SPECIAL ADVICE: If Tsonga wins the first set comfortably, I suggest laying him at odds of 1.15 or below.

Good luck!

Some Terms Explained:

Back: Normal Stakes – use 10% of bank with Stop loss at 40%.
Back Heavy(BH) – use up to 30% of bank. Used at members discretion. Delay and Trade. Use Stop Loss at 40% unless stated otherwise.
Lay: Normal stakes – use 10% of bank with Stop Loss at 40%.
Lay Heavy(LH) – use up to 30% of bank. Used at members discretion. Delay and Trade. Use Stop Loss at 40% unless stated otherwise.
Likely 3 Setter – consider laying the winner of the first set.
Hot Tip – I have more confidence in these tips. However, use normal stake sizes.
No Stop Loss Suggested – Use of Stop Loss is not recommended for this tip. Use half Normal Stake.

Tips are deemed unsuccessful at 40% loss of stake, when stop loss is used

All odds shown with the tips are correct at time of publishing. Odds are often given several hours ahead of the event. If odds have changed, adjust your back/lay stake accordingly e.g. if I tip ‘Back at 1.5, Lay at 1.25’ – and back odds move to 1.55, adjust your lay odds to 1.3 – there are still 25 ticks between the back and lay odds.

Delay and Trade!! It’s OK to place your trades before the match starts, but in my opinion, waiting 2/3 games before placing your trades is the safest way to trade. This is advised in many of the articles below. To delay and trade will give you a good feel for the match. Delay and Trade is a MUST if you are Backing Heavy. Delaying is advised mostly for the women’s game, as early breaks of serve are more likely.  Please read the relevant article below.

Help and Advice: Tennis Trading Tip – Successful or not?

Some folks have asked why I call the tips ‘Betfair Tennis Trading Tips’ and have asked if the tips can be used on other betting exchanges. I use Betfair for all my trading because Betfair has the best liquidity. All of my prices are taken from Betfair.
Betfair Tennis Trading gives you the best opportunities to make profits. You can use the trading tips on other exchanges – there may be small price differences – but these shouldn’t matter. If you decide to use a site other that Betfair for trading, make sure that the liquidity is there.
If you’re unsure about what liquidity is required, see question 17 on my FAQ section at
